Tourism
Authority of Thailand (TAT)
initiated the Ecotourism Data-based Web Site two years ago
aiming at collecting all information and knowledge pertaining
ecotourism and organizing them into a database called “Thailand
Ecotourism Information Center” Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart
university has collaborated in database design, development,
and administration of this website since 2001 with TAT supporting
fund.
The
objective of this web site is to distribute useful information
and knowledge for all stakeholders and professionals in ecotourism
such as implementing agencies, private tour operators, local
communities, researchers and academics. |
The
ultimate goal of this web site is for helping professionals
gain access to knowledge and information regarding ecotourism
that already exist in this world in forms of electronic media
and be able to download some of them. Thus, ecological and
social science knowledge as well as statistics and best practices
are emphasized as major contents in this data base. In addition,
this web site serves as information exchange ground for all
interest parties in ecotourism, distribution of ecotourism
network newsletter, and other public relations and promotion
of ecotourism events and practices. The ecotourism information
in this database is divided into 4 components: ecotourism
resources, marketing and ecotourist characteristics, facilities
and service development, institutions and community participation.
More than 3,300 records were collected and can be searched
in different ways such as searching by key words, by ecotourism
components, and by document types.

develop and manage ecotourism to support the conservation of
natural and cultural environments and distribute benefit to
local communities as well as create tourism experiences with
